Pokémon Quest Staryu Recipe: Exact Mix, Odds & Pot Costs
For Staryu, try Basic Mouth-Watering Dip: three Bluk Berry slots and two Tiny Mushroom slots. The reference chance is about 16.67%, so another visitor does not mean the mix failed.
The exact Staryu mix
This cooks Mouth-Watering Dip à la Cube. Fill three slots with Bluk Berry and the other two with Tiny Mushroom. It uses only small ingredients; there is no need to add Honey, Rainbow Matter or Mystical Shell for this version.
The Basic attraction group lists Staryu at about 16.67%. That is roughly one chance in six per visitor in the reference model, not a guarantee that your sixth cook will produce Staryu. Other Water-type visitors are expected results from the same dish.
How much does one batch cost?
| Pot | Bluk Berry | Tiny Mushroom | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | 9 | 6 | 15 |
| Bronze | 30 | 20 | 50 |
| Silver | 45 | 30 | 75 |
| Gold | 60 | 40 | 100 |
These numbers are bag items, not recipe slots. A Gold pot spends 20 items for each of the five slots, so the same three berry slots need 60 berries. The mix still contains five small-ingredient slots and stays Basic quality.
Choose a pot for your current goal and supplies. A first Pokédex entry and a later battle-team recruit are different goals. The pot comparison explains the cost trade-off before you commit to a large batch.
Short of mushrooms? Check this alternative
A second Basic mix is three Bluk Berry slots, one Tiny Mushroom slot and one Apricorn slot. The published Mouth-Watering Dip reference lists this alternative in the same quality group. In a Basic pot it costs nine berries, three mushrooms and three Apricorns.
This is useful when berries are plentiful but mushrooms are limiting your attempts. It is not permission to replace any ingredient with any yellow item. Honey has different properties and quality points from Apricorn. Check a full replacement in the quality guide and recipe finder.
Why you can miss Staryu several times
Repeated cooks are attempts, not a countdown. Using a one-in-six independent-chance illustration, missing the target six times in a row has probability (5/6)6, or about 33.5%. This calculation explains randomness; it is not measured game telemetry or proof of how every hidden mechanic works.
After a miss, check whether you got the intended dish and quality. If both are correct, another visitor alone does not show that the recipe failed. If the dish changed, stop and check all five slots before spending another batch.
Set an ingredient budget before a long cooking session. For example, four Basic batches of the main mix cost 36 Bluk Berry and 24 Tiny Mushroom. That budget buys attempts, not a guaranteed Staryu.
Staryu, Starmie and Hydro Pump
Staryu evolves into Starmie at level 36 in Pokémon Quest. You do not need the Water Stone evolution method from some main-series games. If your long-term goal is a particular Starmie move, check Starmie’s move list before investing in training.
Staryu’s listed move pool is not the same as Starmie’s. Do not repeatedly train Staryu expecting a move that is only on the evolution’s list. Getting the species, reaching the evolution and obtaining a desired move are separate steps.
The move-training guide explains the difference between a successful move change and learning the exact move you wanted. A recipe cannot guarantee a particular move or set of sockets.
Your next cook checklist
- Select a pot you can afford.
- Fill three slots with Bluk Berry and two with Tiny Mushroom.
- Confirm the full bag cost against the table.
- After cooking, check Mouth-Watering Dip and Basic quality.
- If a different visitor arrives, compare the dish first, then decide whether your budget allows another attempt.
For a wrong dish or confusing result, use recipe troubleshooting. For supplies, plan the missing colour with the ingredient-farming guide.
